Finally, mirror neurons - motor neurons activated during the execution of an action and its observation performed by someone else - map the action of others on the observers' motor representation of the same action (Di Pellegrino, Fadiga, Fogassi, Gallese, & Rizzolatti, 1992; Gallese, Fadiga, Fogassi, & Rizzolatti, 1996; Rizzolatti, Fadiga, Gallese,
The brain circuits with evidence of the MM, connecting frontal and posterior parietal multimodal motor neurons most likely analogous to macaques' mirror neurons, map a given motor content like "reach out", "grasp," or "break" not only when controlling its performance, but also when visually and/or aurally perceiving it performed by someone else, when imitating it, or when imagining performing it while perfectly still.
The discovery of mirror neurons gives us a new empirically founded notion of intersubjectivity first and foremost conceived as intercorpore- ality - the mutual resonance of intentionally meaningful sensorimotor behaviors.
Freedberg and Gallese (2007; see also Freedberg 2012) have advanced a version of Vischer's theory that explains aesthetic experience as the simulation of actions and emo- tions by mirror neurons in the brain.
Additionally, it is questionable that activity in the mirror neurons is adequate for explaining qualitatively felt aesthetic experience.،
